Anyone for tennis?!

This self-assured character sports one of Madame Weigel's men's patterns - Pattern 5673: Man's Sports Shirt, in Two Styles. Issued in Madame Weigel's Journal of Fashion in January 1931, this shirt was described as 'comfortable for sports or hot weather' - it was the antipodean January after all.

Suitable materials were suggested - Oxford shirting, tobralco, cotton poplin, silk or cotton Fuji. The shirt came in sizes 32 - 46" chest which was quite an unusually broad range. Price for the pattern, one shilling.
